School and Hospital Zones Benefit From Solar Powered LED Traffic Signs

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

Solar powered traffic signs use three or four flashing LED lights in order to attract a driver’s attention to the sign so that they will slow down, stop, yield or beware of dangers such as power lines, railroad crossings or emergency vehicles entering and exiting the highway.  These LED solar sign lights last much longer than regular light bulbs; therefore replacing them is not an issue and they are powered by the sun’s energy so there is no need to run an electrical cord or extension cord from an electrical outline to the sign.

Solar powered traffic signs near fire engine houses or hospital zones help insure drivers who cannot hear the sirens (perhaps the music is too loud, or they are hard of hearing) will see the flashing lights of a stop sign or a bright yellow fire engine sign and heed its warning.

Solar powered stop signs can have a dramatic impact for motorists and pedestrians near work zones, hospital zones and school zones where drivers are often times distracted and tend to speed without realizing what they are doing or plow through stop signs without seeing them.  Solar powered stop signs placed anywhere pedestrians and motorists coexist can help reduce the number of accidents by helping to alert a driver to what a posted sign is “telling” them.

Hospital zones where emergency vehicles are racing in and out of traffic can be helped with solar powered traffic signs and solar powered stop signs.  Accidents involving emergency vehicles and other motorists can be avoided by using solar powered stop signs to alert drivers of an impending stop where they might not have otherwise seen the stop sign and continued through it into an accident.

At three o’clock on any given weekday there are thousands of children leaving schools all across the country and waiting school buses and parents in cars ready to pick them up.  Accidents can be avoided with solar signs such as solar powered speed limit signs, solar powered yield signs and solar powered stop signs.  With solar powered traffic signs, people are more alert to their surroundings and more lives are saved.

Large colorful signs posted near hospital zones and school zones are oftentimes not enough to save lives but a solar powered traffic sign with the flashing red or orange LED lights have been proven to save more lives than a traditional sign.

And solar powered traffic signs with the flashing LED lights help the environment because they do not cause air pollution because they do not run on any gas, batteries or electricity.  They simply use the sun’s energy to generate enough power to run the flashing LED lights for 12 continuous hours.

Solar Traffic Signs Uses Sun’s Energy, Saves Taxpayer Money, Lives

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

A solar traffic sign could save a municipality, city and state thousands of taxpayer dollars in energy costs by using the sun’s energy to generate power to flashing LED (light emitting diode) lights.   A solar powered traffic sign consists of three or four red or yellow LED flashing light surrounding the words on a traditional sign in order to draw motorist’s attention to the sign so that they will be able to do what is indicated on the sign.  These solar powered traffic signs cost next to nothing to maintain and run on a continuing basis because the LED lights last for a very long time so they do not have to be replaced and the sun’s energy generates the flashing lights for up to 12 continuous hours so there is no need for expensive electricity. There are many different styles of LED flashing lights for a safety sign that direct traffic to do different maneuvers such as directional signs pointing left or right and warning signs such as pedestrian crossing, school crossings, railroad crossings, deer crossing, danger: high voltage wires, danger: low bridge, danger: work zone, ‘stop here when flashing’ sign for a fire engine exit, yield signs, speed limit signs and traffic light ahead signs. Pedestrian crossing and school crossing sign are important when drivers and pedestrians need to share the road.  Often times, drivers will travel along, not paying attention or can become easily distracted by their thoughts or something within their car like the radio or a cell phone.  Many states are now banning cell phone usage in motor vehicles, making drivers pull over in order to use their cell phone.  The combination of a distracted motorist and pedestrians on the same road could spell disaster for both parties.  Flashing LED lights on a pedestrian crossing or school crossing sign will help to alert preoccupied motorists so that they are more aware of their surroundings. In addition to saving taxpayer money, solar powered traffic signs will ultimately save lives by helping distracted drivers pay more attention to traffic signs.

LED Safety Signs save Taxpayer Money and Save Lives

Monday, June 1st, 2009

LED safety signs could save cities and towns across the country thousands of dollars in taxpayer money and energy costs because the safety signs use the sun’s energy through solar panels to generate the flashing LED lights.

One example of a solar powered safety sign would be a solar powered stop sign with four flashing red LED lights surrounding the word stop.  The flashing LED red lights draw the attention of a driver to the stop sign that might have otherwise missed it if they were distracted and there were no flashing lights.  These solar powered signs cost next to nothing to maintain and run on a continuing basis because the LED lights last and last so they do not have to be replaced that often; the sun’s energy generates the flashing lights for up to 12 continuous hours so there is no need for expensive electricity.

Solar signs come in all different shapes and sizes and have all different types of directions available on the front of them.  There are solar power stop signs, slow, children at play signs, low bridge ahead signs, road work ahead signs, school bus stop ahead signs, deer crossing signs, railroad crossing signs, low shoulder signs and just about any sign imaginable that may be needed for the street company or highway departments.

When pedestrians and drivers need to share the road, such as school areas from small children on up to college age kids, it is very important to have a school crossing and pedestrian crossing signs available where drivers can see them.  With the solar panel signs with the LED flashing lights, distracted drivers driving through a campus are more likely to see the signs and slow down their vehicle before causing a potentially deadly accident.

In the United States most highways have the speed limit between 60 and 70 mph; however many drivers push this to the limit and drive at least 15 mph over the speed limits causing dangerous conditions for themselves and other drivers on the highway.  Many of the highways, in order to accommodate the ever-growing population and urban sprawl, have placed traffic signals across the highways.  With traffic traveling so fast, it is often difficult for cars to slow down enough to stop at the traffic lights; therefore placing traffic signal ahead signs with the flashing LED lights far enough in advance of the streetlights would be most helpful to drivers, especially those who are traveling faster than the speed limit.  This would give them enough time to slow down before either reaching the traffic light or a car that might be stopped waiting for the light.

Distracted Drivers See Solar Powered Traffic Signs, Heed Their Warnings

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Solar powered stop signs are popping up all over the country in order to save lives by helping distracted drivers notice the stop signs because of their four LED flashing lights.

Each and every solar powered sign has either red, yellow or orange flashing LED lights that are powered by the solar panel attached to the pole of the sign and will continually flash up to 12 hours even after the sun has gone down.

Solar powered signs run on the solar energy generated by the sun’s ultraviolet light rays which beams down onto a solar panel that has been retrofitted onto a special signpost in which the wires are incased in metal tubing that runs from the solar panel to the back of the stop sign or whatever type of solar power traffic sign a city is using to generate the LED lights.

Solar signs come in a variety of shapes and sizes just as regular traffic signs do.  There are new neon yellow ‘work ahead’ signs along with the traditional bright orange signs, both with four flashing LED lights that surround the words on the sign to help distracted drivers heed the warnings of the signs.  There are solar powered traffic signs for nearly any occasion such as railroad crossings, deer crossings, school bus stops ahead, emergency entrances, narrow lanes ahead or low shoulder signs.

Distracted drivers are the number one killer on America’s highways today.  Distractions could be all types anything from drunk driving to changing the radio station to eating a burger for lunch while driving to driving with an enormous boat being hauled behind a small pickup truck.  The combinations of distractions are endless.  People also daydream about everything under the sun while they’re driving and they miss their exits, roll through stop signs, drive too fast in work zones or school zones and cause accidents and endanger the lives of other drivers and passengers.  With the solar powered stop signs and other solar powered traffic signs, the distracted driver’s attention is grabbed by the flashing lights and hopefully they observe the warnings of the signs and do as they are directed.

For all intent and purposes the solar powered signs look like regular traffic signs except for the solar panel attached to the side of it and the three or four flashing LED lights surrounding the bright white word directing the driver as what direction to go or direction to follow.

Many of today’s vehicles are equipped with state-of-the-art safety mechanisms to help protect drivers and their passengers in case of an accident.  Solar powered signs help to prevent accidents from happening in the first place.

Solar Light Towers Illuminate Walkways, Highways; Save Lives

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

Solar signs are becoming the wave of the future for nearly all streets and highways in order to help save lives and protect the environment.  Solar safety signs are eco-friendly because there is no electricity used to power the LED lights on the signs, just the sun’s ultraviolet light which can give off up to 12 hours of continuous light.

A solar light tower could be used in the construction area where they are digging deep into the ground or working late into the night and need a continuous stream of light. However, the construction company does not need the worry of running over electrical cords that power old fashion fluorescent lights.  A solar light tower could be placed every few feet to illuminate an entire stretch of highway while workers work through the night and oncoming traffic is able to see the workers better because of the solar light towers.

Solar light towers could help save money and energy for many businesses as well as the street department or highway department.  Large shopping malls and businesses could use the solar light towers in their parking lots in order to help maintain the safety of their customers in addition to saving money because there is no electricity needed to run these LED solar light towers.  Schools and universities could also save money by using the solar powered light towers along their walkways and in parking lots.  Solar powered light towers are perfect for just about any application where light is needed in the evening hours and electricity is not readily available or would be too costly to install and use on a regular basis.

Saving money and becoming energy efficient is what switching to solar panel safety lights and towers are all about.  Another way a construction company, power plant or refinery could save money is with a solar gas detector.  A solar gas detector helps detect up to nine different gases and displays a reading from 32 different sensors at a time, all on the sun’s solar power.  These solar gas detectors will help protect workers at power plants, tank farms, paper and pulp manufacturers, planned and mill turnarounds and petrochemical plants in addition to homeland security applications.  Keeping workers and the public safe is the number one priority of many businesses and government entities in doing so while saving money helps everyone.

New advancements in solar power panels allow for continuous light when it is dark, and the detection of gases that could be harmful to people who work in the various power plants and mills or other areas where hazardous gas could go undetected.  In addition, solar traffic signs help alert drivers to oncoming hazards where they might not have noticed them before had they been distracted or otherwise not paying attention.

Safety Signs Designed to Increase Visibility, Decrease Accidents

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

If you own a construction business, a heavy equipment machine shop or any type of business where heavy equipment such as cement trucks or dump trucks are crossing where people tend to walk, then several solar signs would be a good idea to increase visibility of the heavy equipment and decrease accidents.

A solar powered stop sign, with LED flashing lights, draws attention to the stop sign better than a regular stop sign without the flashing lights.  Since the stop sign is solar powered, there is no need for a generator or any other type of electricity running to the stop sign. This saves a company thousands of dollars each year.

Having a solar powered safety sign at every intersection or crosswalk in your construction yard can help save many lives.  The solar powered safety signs have four flashing LED lights that draw attention to what the safety signs are saying.  These signs will help catch the attention of people when they are not paying attention to their surroundings, especially when trucks are passing by.

A solar sign even works on a cloudy day for up to 12 hours continuously flashing LED lights using only the sun’s power.  These solar safety signs are water resistant, so they work in the rain and basically all types of weather.  A company has even designed solar powered safety lights to be used alongside the solar powered safety signs.  These solar safety lights can be used anywhere light is needed, such as a construction site or to glide up under the hood of a car and are just as durable and bright as the solar signs.

Solar Gas Detectors Perfect for Airport Applications

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Solar gas detectors and solar safety signs can be found in and around airports to help keep workers and travelers safe.  A solar gas detector is perfect for an airport application because of all the different toxins airplanes give off from their engines, some even while idling and others give off fumes just after shutdown.

It is important to have solar gas detectors and safety signs for the employees and passengers at the airport to warn them of any possible accidents.  Solar gas detectors do not need costly generators that may contain gas or diesel fuels and therefore are cleaner for the environment.  Solar gas detectors will alert employees in case of the gas leak that could be harmful to airport employees or an airport traveler before the leak becomes hazardous to their health.

Solar signs use the sun’s energy to run LED flashing lights so that more people are aware of the safety signs and pay attention to them better than a regular safety sign with no flashing lights.

The combination of solar safety signs and solar gas detectors are perfect for the airport because of their portability, safety warning capabilities that could save lives when detecting gas and stopping accidents where safety signs with the LED flashing lights are placed.  The airport has hundreds of places that could benefit from solar gas detectors, such as the airplane maintenance area as well as luggage and passenger check-in areas in case of terrorist attack by lethal gases. The safety signs can be placed throughout the airport, both indoors and outdoors, to warn workers and passengers of potential dangers from oncoming golf carts, luggage carriers, and other heavy equipment.

Solar Light Towers save Energy, Money

Friday, December 5th, 2008

Solar light towers save energy by not having to have a portable light fixture plugged in to an outlet; in a construction situation this could be a hazard to workers.  A solar sign and a solar powered portable light fixture also eliminate the need for diesel or gas driven generators, which saves your company thousands of dollars per year.  In addition, without the cost of maintenance to a generator, there is no down time for your construction or workers.  Also, noise pollution is completely eliminated.

A solar light tower, combined with the solar safety sign, can give your company the peace of mind needed to continue operating in a safe and effective manner.  A solar light tower uses the sun’s rays to produce up to 12 hours of continuous operation.  Using a solar light tower saves money as well as energy if you are using the sun’s energy instead of electricity to keep the lights burning brightly.

Solar light towers can be used at construction sites, in machine shops, at auto mechanics shops, and even in your own backyard.  Anywhere there is light needed and no electricity or you wish to save electricity, a solar light tower can be used.  An LED flashing safety sign announcing the use of the solar light tower can be placed near the solar light towers so that people know they are there when they see the flashing lights.  Having the LED flashing safety signs draws attention to whatever wording is on the signs, in addition to people’s attention to safety concerns.

Many of the solar light towers are shocked and vibration resistant, making them perfect for any type of construction or power plants work area.  The solar light towers are also made with a portable 36” steel base making them practically indestructible.  They also come with a five year warranty from the manufacturer.

Safety Solar Signs: Environmentally Sound Going Green at School

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Solar powered stop signs use LED technology to keep children safer as people drive through school zones. The flashing lights draw more of the driver’s attention to the sign than an ordinary stop sign. The movement and light stands out, whereas a standard stop sign is more easily ignored. It doesn’t prompt the driver like a flashing sign does.

A flashing pedestrian sign helps school crossing guards protect children going to and from school.  The various safety signs powered by the sun ensure that there is less power lines in a school zone.  This is important when storms occur because there are less power lines to go down and cause a safety hazard. A solar sign for pedestrian crossing can help prevent accidents and injuries of school children. A safety sign that flashes will get a child’s attention much faster than an ordinary sign. After all, kids are busy playing and horsing around when they are outside and they need additional help to keep safe and injury free. A solar sign for all of the school safety requirements is much more environmentally friendly. It uses a renewable resource and it keeps going when there is a brownout or black out so a child’s safety isn’t jeopardized because the source of power is down.  If a pedestrian crossing sign, stop sign, or yield sign is needed by a school, the sun powered signs are the best choice. They work in all types of weather and can be seen through fog.

Solar Construction Signs: Keeping Road Crews Safe across the Country

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Construction site safety is really paramount. There is a lot of work going on with heavy equipment involved in the construction process. Solar signs are a big improvement over static safety signs and hazard signs on the job site. They help attract the worker’s attention while the worker is busy driving a crane, laying bricks, or moving large equipment. On large construction sites several solar powered stop signs are needed to keep traffic going in a safe and orderly procession.                                                     The LED components of these signs flash out the need to stop and see if another truck or construction vehicle is coming. Various kinds of safety signs are needed on a construction site. Some of these signs are stop, slow, directional, high voltage overhead, and overhead crane. Most of these signs have four blinking lights that are strategically place which warn drivers to slow, stop, or which direction to go. Construction sites have been notorious for having accidents, but these improved warning signs help to bring their accident record down. This means that husbands, fathers, brothers and female construction workers are less likely to be involved in an accident that puts them out of work for months by causing a temporary or permanent disability to a loved one. The increased visibility of these technologically advanced signs makes the work place safer for all because they immediately get the worker’s attention. The signs can be made for any need on any construction site.
