Solar Powered Signs; Provide Additional Safety for Construction Sites

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Solar powered signs near construction sites help to save the lives of construction workers, pedestrians and motorists.  Solar powered signs include work zone signs, danger: high-voltage wires, reduced speed limit, pedestrian crossing signs and stop signs.  These solar powered signs used the sun’s energy to generate four flashing red or orange LED lights that surround whatever the sign says.  For example, a pedestrian crossing sign has the traditional pedestrian figure walking across the street on a bright yellow diamond shaped sign and then has a red flashing LED light each of the four corners.  The solar powered signs use the sun’s energy so there is no need to run dangerous long wires from an electrical outlet to the sign.

Solar powered signs with flashing LED lights help to alert distracted motorist to what is going on around them; construction site workers who are driving heavy equipment could also benefit from a flashing solar powered stop sign or other solar powered signs.  When safety is an issue, solar powered signs can be most beneficial to everyone around them including pedestrians, motorists and construction site workers.  People can often be distracted by cell phones, car radios or their own thoughts.  Distractions make people oblivious to what is happening around them, and solar powered signs can help bring them back to the here and now and help save lives in the process.

Solar traffic signs can have a powerful impact on construction sites in which so many things are happening at once; a construction worker can easily be distracted by something going on in the distance and not pay attention to where they are walking.  By having flashing LED lights on various traffic signs, a construction worker can be more diligent about his or her surroundings because these flashing lights draw attention to the posted sign and help to keep a worksite safe.

In addition to saving lives, solar powered signs set at a construction site could impact a construction company’s insurance rates in a positive way.  By taking precautionary measures, such as using solar powered signs, a construction company could ask for a re-evaluation of their insurance premiums at which time a lower rate could be prescribed by an insurance agent.  Just as having fire extinguishers on site is a good idea, using solar powered signs could save the construction company thousands of dollars a year in insurance premiums.

Solar Powered Traffic Signs save Taxpayer Dollars; Drivers Lives

Monday, January 12th, 2009

A solar powered stop sign could save a municipality, city and state thousands of taxpayer dollars in energy costs by using the sun’s energy to generate power to flashing LED lights.

A solar powered stop sign consists of four red LED flashing light surrounding the large word ‘stop’ on a traditional red sign in order to draw motorists’ attention to the sign so that they will be able to stop where indicated.  These solar powered signs cost next to nothing to maintain and run on a continuing basis because the LED lights last and last so they do not have to be replaced that often; the sun’s energy generates the flashing lights for up to 12 continuous hours so there is no need for expensive electricity.

In addition to the solar powered stop signs, there are many different solar traffic signs that alert drivers to warnings such as pedestrian crossing, school crossings, deer crossing, railroad crossings, danger: low bridge, danger: high voltage wires, danger: work zone, ‘stop here when flashing’ sign for a fire engine exit, yield signs, traffic light ahead signs and speed limit signs.

Pedestrian crossing and school crossings sign are important when drivers and pedestrians need to share the road.  Often times, drivers are not paying attention or can become easily distracted by their thoughts or something within their car like the radio or a cell phone.  The combination of a distracted motorist and pedestrians on the same road could spell disaster for both parties.  Flashing LED lights on a pedestrian crossing or school crossing sign will help to alert preoccupied motorists so that they are more aware of their surroundings.

Solar powered danger signs with flashing red or yellow LED lights could also help to warn distracted drivers of upcoming dangers on the road.  Research study after study has proven that distracted drivers kill people, pedestrians, other drivers or themselves. To help prevent these potentially deadly accidents, solar powered traffic signs are a good first step in prevention.  Drivers will always be distracted by something in the car, by something outside of the car or by their own thoughts; using solar powered traffic signs with flashing LED lights is one way to help bring a driver’s attention back to the road.

Most highways have top speeds of 70 mph; however drivers continually exceed this limit by up to 15 mph or more.  In order to accommodate an ever-growing population of people and roads, many highways now have traffic signals on them.  Solar powered signs could alert drivers well in advance of these traffic signals in order for them to be able to begin to slow down and eventually stop if the signal has turned to red.

Solar powered traffic signs and stop signs save thousands of dollars in taxpayer money, in addition to saving lives every day.

Safety Signs Designed to Increase Visibility, Decrease Accidents

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

If you own a construction business, a heavy equipment machine shop or any type of business where heavy equipment such as cement trucks or dump trucks are crossing where people tend to walk, then several solar signs would be a good idea to increase visibility of the heavy equipment and decrease accidents.

A solar powered stop sign, with LED flashing lights, draws attention to the stop sign better than a regular stop sign without the flashing lights.  Since the stop sign is solar powered, there is no need for a generator or any other type of electricity running to the stop sign. This saves a company thousands of dollars each year.

Having a solar powered safety sign at every intersection or crosswalk in your construction yard can help save many lives.  The solar powered safety signs have four flashing LED lights that draw attention to what the safety signs are saying.  These signs will help catch the attention of people when they are not paying attention to their surroundings, especially when trucks are passing by.

A solar sign even works on a cloudy day for up to 12 hours continuously flashing LED lights using only the sun’s power.  These solar safety signs are water resistant, so they work in the rain and basically all types of weather.  A company has even designed solar powered safety lights to be used alongside the solar powered safety signs.  These solar safety lights can be used anywhere light is needed, such as a construction site or to glide up under the hood of a car and are just as durable and bright as the solar signs.

Making Your Work Zone Safe with Solar Safety Signs

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

There are several types of solar signs. Some industrial sites use plant turnaround signs that help prevent accidents and improve traffic flow. A solar powered stop sign through an industrial area or other work area can help to keep it accident free. There are many signs such as the high voltage area sign, overhead crane, and toxic vapor warnings, caution signs for equipment, which warn workers of these potential dangers.    These signs are used in petrochemical, industrial, and commercial areas to prevent workers from getting into different types of accidents on the job. These signs are made for industrial use, and are made to DOT specifications and OSHA requirements.  There are other advantages to these safety signs. They don’t require maintenance like signs powered through electric cables. It keeps costs down because these signs don’t need expensive cables and they minimize roadwork, therefore, saving the company money. They are resistant to wind and hail; they utilize temperature compensation.  All of these safety signs are keeping the work place safe because they warn of potential danger to the employees. Their source of power is much safer than traditional flashing signs. If there are any cables that could fall or become frayed or any other way that could cause a worker to get electrocuted. The flashing traffic signs throughout a plant site are a safer way to conduct traffic through and keep accidents down. They will help to make the work place safer on sunny, foggy, and cloudy days. On top of it, hey flash day and night, 24 hours a day to keep workers safe.

Safety Solar Signs: Environmentally Sound Going Green at School

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Solar powered stop signs use LED technology to keep children safer as people drive through school zones. The flashing lights draw more of the driver’s attention to the sign than an ordinary stop sign. The movement and light stands out, whereas a standard stop sign is more easily ignored. It doesn’t prompt the driver like a flashing sign does.

A flashing pedestrian sign helps school crossing guards protect children going to and from school.  The various safety signs powered by the sun ensure that there is less power lines in a school zone.  This is important when storms occur because there are less power lines to go down and cause a safety hazard. A solar sign for pedestrian crossing can help prevent accidents and injuries of school children. A safety sign that flashes will get a child’s attention much faster than an ordinary sign. After all, kids are busy playing and horsing around when they are outside and they need additional help to keep safe and injury free. A solar sign for all of the school safety requirements is much more environmentally friendly. It uses a renewable resource and it keeps going when there is a brownout or black out so a child’s safety isn’t jeopardized because the source of power is down.  If a pedestrian crossing sign, stop sign, or yield sign is needed by a school, the sun powered signs are the best choice. They work in all types of weather and can be seen through fog.

Solar Construction Signs: Keeping Road Crews Safe across the Country

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Construction site safety is really paramount. There is a lot of work going on with heavy equipment involved in the construction process. Solar signs are a big improvement over static safety signs and hazard signs on the job site. They help attract the worker’s attention while the worker is busy driving a crane, laying bricks, or moving large equipment. On large construction sites several solar powered stop signs are needed to keep traffic going in a safe and orderly procession.                                                     The LED components of these signs flash out the need to stop and see if another truck or construction vehicle is coming. Various kinds of safety signs are needed on a construction site. Some of these signs are stop, slow, directional, high voltage overhead, and overhead crane. Most of these signs have four blinking lights that are strategically place which warn drivers to slow, stop, or which direction to go. Construction sites have been notorious for having accidents, but these improved warning signs help to bring their accident record down. This means that husbands, fathers, brothers and female construction workers are less likely to be involved in an accident that puts them out of work for months by causing a temporary or permanent disability to a loved one. The increased visibility of these technologically advanced signs makes the work place safer for all because they immediately get the worker’s attention. The signs can be made for any need on any construction site.

This Sign Could Save Your Life

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

Ask the average driver and they’ll tell you that they’ve probably ran a few stop signs unintentionally. Maybe they didn’t see the sign, or didn’t realize they were supposed to stop because of the road layout. Whatever the reason, avoid serious injuries and even death with solar signs. They’re designed for remote locations and high visibility in all weather conditions. These signs are designed to save lives — and the next life might be yours.

Solar Stop Signs And Solar Traffic Signs

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Solar stop signs are a good idea because they need to be visible, and the simple white-on-red motif is just not good enough anymore. Once upon a time they were great, because drivers didn’t have a lot of color on the road to distract them. These days, everything’s red. Or flashing. Combat that input overload with solar traffic signs. Do what you have to, to make sure people see what they need to see.

Solar Signs And Solar Stop Signs

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

You may not have heard of solar stop signs before. Even now, you may be wondering what’s the point. All you need is some paint, right? Flashing lights on a sign make it much more visible, because the human eye picks up movement before anything else, and lights flashing looks like movement to our eyes. Solar signs will be more visible to the people with whom you want to communicate, keeping them out of harm’s way.
