Safety Signs Help Economically Strapped Cities with Budgets; Lower Fatality Rates

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

In these economic hard times many municipalities, cities, towns and states are looking to save money along their highways and roadways in addition to saving the lives of the many thousands of distracted drivers that are on the rise due to cell phone use which has now been banned in several cities and states.

One of the better solutions to come along for the cities and towns to combat their economic hard times, in addition to helping save lives, is the LED safety signs.  The LED safety signs are solar powered through the sun’s energy and therefore do not cost the community anything to run on a daily basis and maintenance is very low and limited on these durable signs.  The signs come in a variety of traffic appropriate signs including solar powered stop signs, solar powered railroad crossing signs, solar powered pedestrian crossing signs, solar powered deer crossing signs, solar powered emergency exits and entrances signs, solar powered warning signs and solar powered directional signs.

The solar sign lights are LED powered which are brighter lights and last longer than fluorescent lights and can be generated through the sun’s power therefore saving electricity.  The idea behind solar sign flashing lights is that they draw the attention of a driver, who might be distracted through something in the car such as changing the radio station or talking to a passenger or lost in their own thoughts, back to the reality of driving.  The flashing lights catch the driver’s attention and hopefully that will heed the warnings of the traffic signs with the flashing LED lights on them.  For example, if there is a traffic sign that says ‘slow children at play’ with four bright LED lights flashing, one in each corner of the sign, this would be hard to miss even by a driver who is not paying attention because the flashing bright lights are designed to capture a drivers attention.

Solar powered safety signs have many applications and can be used in construction work zones where people and heavy equipment need to walk and drive on the same path.  The flashing LED lights on the safety signs alert the heavy equipment drivers to oncoming traffic or pedestrian crossings to help avoid accidents and fatalities because the driver is placed so high up on the machinery that they often times cannot see the ground in front of them.

LED Solar Signs Flashed To Save Lives, Energy and Money

Friday, March 20th, 2009

A solar powered stop sign has four flashing LED lights that surround the word stop in order to help alert drivers, who may be distracted, to better see the stop sign before they reach the intersection or corner and add to the fatality or injury rates of their community.

Many communities are turning to solar powered stop signs to help prevent accidents and to save the community money on fancy flashing lights that eat up electricity.  Solar powered stop signs use a solar panel to harness the sun’s energy which generates the flashing LED lights so that drivers are better able to see an upcoming stop sign or other traffic signs such as directional signs, railroad crossing signs, emergency entrance signs, pedestrian crossing signs, deer crossing signs and a traffic signal ahead sign.

Solar powered traffic signs have been proven time and time again to save lives by halting would be accidents at stop sign intersections, pedestrian crossings, winding roads and truck entrances and exits along the highways and other roadways where visibility is limited due to a hill or natural curve in the road.

An LED solar sign usually contains four flashing red or orange LED lights that are brighter and last longer than fluorescent lights and are powered by the sun in order to save electricity and be more eco-friendly to the earth.  Environmentally conscious communities are switching to LED solar signs in order to help save the planet and save their communities more money by cutting back on utilities such as electricity.

The solar powered stop signs and other solar powered traffic signs are highly visible in all weather conditions including ‘white out’ conditions from snow and blizzards to torrential downpours where visibility is next to none.  The flashing LED lights on solar stop signs and most all solar powered traffic signs can take up to 110 mph winds when properly installed, in addition to withstanding hail and high heat temperatures.

Solar paneled safety signs and traffic signs are the best choice for construction sites, including those ‘work ahead’ sites along the highway, in order to keep workers safe from the fast-moving cars and drivers who may be distracted.  The flashing LED lights bring drivers back to the ‘here and now’ in order for them to know what’s going on and to adjust their speeds accordingly.

Solar Light Towers Illuminate Walkways, Highways; Save Lives

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

Solar signs are becoming the wave of the future for nearly all streets and highways in order to help save lives and protect the environment.  Solar safety signs are eco-friendly because there is no electricity used to power the LED lights on the signs, just the sun’s ultraviolet light which can give off up to 12 hours of continuous light.

A solar light tower could be used in the construction area where they are digging deep into the ground or working late into the night and need a continuous stream of light. However, the construction company does not need the worry of running over electrical cords that power old fashion fluorescent lights.  A solar light tower could be placed every few feet to illuminate an entire stretch of highway while workers work through the night and oncoming traffic is able to see the workers better because of the solar light towers.

Solar light towers could help save money and energy for many businesses as well as the street department or highway department.  Large shopping malls and businesses could use the solar light towers in their parking lots in order to help maintain the safety of their customers in addition to saving money because there is no electricity needed to run these LED solar light towers.  Schools and universities could also save money by using the solar powered light towers along their walkways and in parking lots.  Solar powered light towers are perfect for just about any application where light is needed in the evening hours and electricity is not readily available or would be too costly to install and use on a regular basis.

Saving money and becoming energy efficient is what switching to solar panel safety lights and towers are all about.  Another way a construction company, power plant or refinery could save money is with a solar gas detector.  A solar gas detector helps detect up to nine different gases and displays a reading from 32 different sensors at a time, all on the sun’s solar power.  These solar gas detectors will help protect workers at power plants, tank farms, paper and pulp manufacturers, planned and mill turnarounds and petrochemical plants in addition to homeland security applications.  Keeping workers and the public safe is the number one priority of many businesses and government entities in doing so while saving money helps everyone.

New advancements in solar power panels allow for continuous light when it is dark, and the detection of gases that could be harmful to people who work in the various power plants and mills or other areas where hazardous gas could go undetected.  In addition, solar traffic signs help alert drivers to oncoming hazards where they might not have noticed them before had they been distracted or otherwise not paying attention.

Solar Signs Create Light, Safety with Renewable Energy from the Sun

Friday, March 6th, 2009

A solar sign uses the sun’s energy in order to power LED lights which illuminate ordinary traffic signs, construction signs, work zone signs, hospital zone signs, children at play signs and various types of warning signs like railroad crossing signs or danger, high-voltage wires nearby.

LED lights burn brighter and last longer than ordinary fluorescent lights and could be used on a safety sign in order to save money because there is no electricity needed, only the sun’s ultraviolet light.  Safety signs could be considered any signs that help direct traffic or save lives because they are there to protect drivers from other traffic.  An example of a safety sign is solar powered stop signs which have four flashing LED lights to help draw a driver’s attention to the stop sign which they might have otherwise missed had there not been flashing lights on the stop sign.  Many accidents happen at stop signs because people do not realize there is a stop sign there and drive past it crashing into another car that may have the right away.  With a solar powered stop sign and the flashing LED lights, it is less likely that a driver would miss the stop sign because they would be able to see it from a longer distance, even if they were not paying attention, the LED flashing lights could be seen out of the corner of one’s eye in order to heed the warnings.

Countless accidents are caused by distractions including cell phone use, eating while driving, adjusting the radio, looking for something in a purse or a bag, reading directions or using a GPS navigational system, talking to a passenger or simply thinking about other things rather than focusing all one’s concentration and attention on the road ahead and what dangers might be lurking just around the corner.  Driving requires the person behind the wheels full attention although this is rarely the case because there is so much going on in life that it spills over into the car along with us.

Solar traffic signs, such as the solar powered stop sign or a solar powered speed limit sign, could help save lives while saving municipalities, cities and towns thousands of dollars in electrical costs.  However, there is no price to be put on a life to be saved by solar powered traffic signs.

Solar powered signs help to illuminate the numbers on a speed limit sign, the letters on the stop sign, the silhouette of a deer on a deer crossing sign and generally brighten all directional or traffic signs for drivers and pedestrians who use the roadways and highways so that they may be safer while their city and state saves taxpayer money.

Construction Zones, Hospital Zones, School Zones; Solar Traffic Signs Work In All Zones

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

Solar powered stop signs are used in many different areas around the country in order to help alert drivers to the stop sign they might have otherwise missed because of natural distractions (like ones thoughts) within the car or outside of the car (like rubbernecking to see an accident).

In addition to solar powered stop signs with the flashing LED lights, there are many different styles of solar traffic signs available to construction companies, schools, colleges and universities, hospitals and emergency rooms facilities, fire departments and cities and towns.  These solar powered traffic signs use the sun’s power to generate flashing LED lights which helped to attract a driver’s attention to the traffic sign so they will adhere to what the sign designates they do.  For example, a solar powered speed limit sign installed near a school will help drivers realize they are entering a school zone and to begin slowing down to the designated speed limit because they have seen the flashing LED lights that highlight the speed limit on the sign.

LED solar sign lights that are placed on solar traffic signs help alert motorists to many different hazards along their path.  Large construction vehicles entering and exiting the highway could have a solar powered traffic sign placed near the road to notify drivers of this impending action.

Many accidents in construction zones are down because of solar powered traffic signs and work areas where pedestrians and large heavy construction equipment share the roadway.  A driver of large heavy construction equipment may not be able to see a person on the road; however they will be able to see the solar sign panel and the flashing LED lights as they come up to a crosswalk in their work area.  These solar powered traffic signs will help to prevent many accidents.

Hospital zones where emergency vehicles are racing in and out of traffic can be helped with solar powered traffic signs and solar powered stop signs.  Accidents involving emergency vehicles and other motorists can be avoided by using solar powered stop signs to alert drivers of an impending stop where they might not have otherwise seen the stop sign and continued through it into an accident.

At three o’clock on any given weekday there are thousands of children leaving schools all across the country and waiting school buses and parents in cars ready to pick them up.  Accidents can be avoided with solar powered traffic signs such as solar powered speed limit signs, solar powered yield signs and solar powered stop signs.

Whether it’s a construction zone, school zone or hospital zone, solar powered safety signs and traffic signs can help to save many lives.
