Solar Signs Create Light, Safety with Renewable Energy from the Sun

Friday, March 6th, 2009

A solar sign uses the sun’s energy in order to power LED lights which illuminate ordinary traffic signs, construction signs, work zone signs, hospital zone signs, children at play signs and various types of warning signs like railroad crossing signs or danger, high-voltage wires nearby.

LED lights burn brighter and last longer than ordinary fluorescent lights and could be used on a safety sign in order to save money because there is no electricity needed, only the sun’s ultraviolet light.  Safety signs could be considered any signs that help direct traffic or save lives because they are there to protect drivers from other traffic.  An example of a safety sign is solar powered stop signs which have four flashing LED lights to help draw a driver’s attention to the stop sign which they might have otherwise missed had there not been flashing lights on the stop sign.  Many accidents happen at stop signs because people do not realize there is a stop sign there and drive past it crashing into another car that may have the right away.  With a solar powered stop sign and the flashing LED lights, it is less likely that a driver would miss the stop sign because they would be able to see it from a longer distance, even if they were not paying attention, the LED flashing lights could be seen out of the corner of one’s eye in order to heed the warnings.

Countless accidents are caused by distractions including cell phone use, eating while driving, adjusting the radio, looking for something in a purse or a bag, reading directions or using a GPS navigational system, talking to a passenger or simply thinking about other things rather than focusing all one’s concentration and attention on the road ahead and what dangers might be lurking just around the corner.  Driving requires the person behind the wheels full attention although this is rarely the case because there is so much going on in life that it spills over into the car along with us.

Solar traffic signs, such as the solar powered stop sign or a solar powered speed limit sign, could help save lives while saving municipalities, cities and towns thousands of dollars in electrical costs.  However, there is no price to be put on a life to be saved by solar powered traffic signs.

Solar powered signs help to illuminate the numbers on a speed limit sign, the letters on the stop sign, the silhouette of a deer on a deer crossing sign and generally brighten all directional or traffic signs for drivers and pedestrians who use the roadways and highways so that they may be safer while their city and state saves taxpayer money.

Making Your Work Zone Safe with Solar Safety Signs

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

There are several types of solar signs. Some industrial sites use plant turnaround signs that help prevent accidents and improve traffic flow. A solar powered stop sign through an industrial area or other work area can help to keep it accident free. There are many signs such as the high voltage area sign, overhead crane, and toxic vapor warnings, caution signs for equipment, which warn workers of these potential dangers.    These signs are used in petrochemical, industrial, and commercial areas to prevent workers from getting into different types of accidents on the job. These signs are made for industrial use, and are made to DOT specifications and OSHA requirements.  There are other advantages to these safety signs. They don’t require maintenance like signs powered through electric cables. It keeps costs down because these signs don’t need expensive cables and they minimize roadwork, therefore, saving the company money. They are resistant to wind and hail; they utilize temperature compensation.  All of these safety signs are keeping the work place safe because they warn of potential danger to the employees. Their source of power is much safer than traditional flashing signs. If there are any cables that could fall or become frayed or any other way that could cause a worker to get electrocuted. The flashing traffic signs throughout a plant site are a safer way to conduct traffic through and keep accidents down. They will help to make the work place safer on sunny, foggy, and cloudy days. On top of it, hey flash day and night, 24 hours a day to keep workers safe.

Solar Safety Signs And Solar School Signs

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Signs are all about safety, so why not make them as visible as possible? Solar safety signs are the answer, because they will flash and make themselves highly visible. That’s especially useful when they are in confusing, high-traffic area. If your signs are in places where they have to compete with a lot of flashing lights, then you will want them to have flashing lights of their own. That’s especially true for solar school signs.
